From chapters.ca: A nameless thirteen year old boy, known to all as "Asta's son" becomes an orphan when his mother, Asta, dies. When he is declared a "wolf's head" [no longer human - to be killed on sight] for a crime he did not commit, he is forced to flee his town of Stromford. He takes only two things with him: his baptismal name - Crispin and his mother's cross of lead.
