Didane the Koala: From a Legend of the Bidjara People of the Upper Warrego by Grahame L. Walsh, illustrated by John Morrison

From the back of the book:
Long ago in the Dreamtime, the Carnavon ranges were hot, dry and barren. The Bidjara people loved their craggy beauty, but they felt sad because there were no trees or plants. The tribe wanted to see trees in the bare land. A wise old man thought of a plan, but first the people must find a mighty boomerang-thrower.
