Rosemary Sutcliff
Rosemary Sutcliff has written a HUGE range of historical fiction for children. Ranging from re-tellings of myths and legends such as Tristan and Iseult and Beowulf to stories set in ancient Rome, Arthur's Britain, and a number of other times and places. Her stories are well written and all of them are worth reading.
